Attempting questions of one subject after another (e.g. switching from physics to chemistry) is known as a “switch” or change. As we all know these exams have 3 subjects and students have to attempt all subjects in one slot of limited 3 hours time.

Switching quickly between subjects is important otherwise it may cost you marks in practice and actual tests

Many times students spend more than required time on one subject or other times, they take more time to recollect formulas for the next subject during the exam.

How to improve your switching habit which can give you an extra edge during exams and you can score better at the same time?

1.Study at least two subjects a day

Many students continue learning and practicing one subject per day during self study, mainly to complete homework. It is advisable to try to study a minimum of two subjects on any given day with few exceptions when you have to do homework on a lengthy topic.

2.Practice different subjects in limited time frame

As time is always short, make it a habit to assign time to each subject and attempt all the subjects during your homework and home assignments as well.

3.Practice all 3 subjects on some days

Most of the time, coaching classes keep 2 subjects in a day , sometimes 3 as well. Set aside one or two days of the week when you practice all 3 subjects during self study with equal time allotted to each subject.

4.Meditate

It is advisable to meditate 5-10 minutes a day to keep your mind cool and make quick decisions during exams.

5.Make a good revision plan and formula sheets

Keep a regular revision schedule for quick recollection during exams so that you don’t feel confused in the last moments during exams. Make formula sheets and keep them separately for quick revision.

We hope that these tips inspire you to practice the 'subject switch' during your preparation and revision and we promise that this will give you better results during your exams!
