Exams for JEE/ NEET 2022 are over. There are students who wish to repeat their attempts for JEE and NEET in 2023 as they couldn’t score well this time.
We give you some simple yet useful tips so that you can improve your marks and scores next year.
1. Analyse your previous preparation/ attempt well
You should analyse whether you had concept problems or it was a lack of optimal work/ strategy from your own side. Depending on this, your repeat preparation should be planned. Checking your performance in previous tests and doing a self assessment will help you in this. Deciding about enrolling for a repeat batch or taking help from subject teacher experts is crucial at this point.
2. Prepare a daily time table
If you are enrolled in a repeaters batch or private classes for JEE/NEET or even otherwise, it is very important to stick to a time table to attend lectures and cover topics with sufficient time for self study - to study theory and attempt questions. This is because one has to cover the 2 year syllabus in a few months.
3. Improve class notes for theory and add extra points with a fresh mind
Go through books and text again and add all important points to your class notes. It is possible that during COVID you may not have made good notes but now is the time to make them and prepare better.
4. Make short notes now and prepare them on a daily or weekly basis
Short notes are especially helpful during revision and preparing short notes during the repeat year is very sensible as it helps in increasing retention of the topic.
5. Ensure solving doubts with teachers or create your own group for healthy discussions
During your repeat year, you may face the challenge of not having a strong peer group to discuss questions with. However, you should not shy away from asking doubts to teachers as your focus is clearer. You can also look to create a friendly group with other people who are preparing for JEE/NEET to have fruitful discussions.
6. Attempt more practice tests
Give as many tests as possible. You can attempt topic wise tests regularly on your own apart from routine tests from your classes. This would help in keeping track of your progress and staying disciplined as that is the biggest challenge while repeating for these competitive exams while your friends already join colleges.
Once you have decided to repeat the attempt, don’t think of anything else and start your preparation with a fresh mind and cover all topics one by one. Take help of parents, teachers and mentors. And reach out to Mentor and Mom if you need! We are there for you.
