During JEE/NEET preparation, a lot of mock tests are taken by classes or coaching institutes for practice and to judge the level of preparation of their students. We tell you you could be scoring low marks and what you should do about it.

1.Your topics were not prepared

It is the most common and natural reason to not score good marks. Tests are a good opportunity to identify your unprepared or less prepared topics and start preparing them by self study or taking help from teachers.

2. Your revision was not completed

It is possible that you understood the topic initially but didn’t get sufficient time for revision due to the vast syllabus. You need to understand the importance of revision and start giving sufficient time everyday for revision.

3.Your test strategy was not correct

It is possible that you got stuck at difficult questions and lost significant time doing them. Because of this you were unable to attempt easier questions which you knew well. So your judgement about which questions to leave is very important.

4.You feel nervous due to fear of getting low marks

You may be low on confidence and may be fearing getting low marks before attempting the exam and it may lead to a negative cascade and tend to forget the topics which you prepared well. You should consider these exams as a learning opportunity and try to use them for analysis and better preparation rather than just a marks game.

Mock tests are taken with a certain purpose and if you are getting low marks, there is no need to get disappointed. Analyse these tests and attempt more and more tests with a positive mindset. You will get the best of your performance over a period of time. All the best!
